This painting was created from a photo taken my daughter who lived on the North Coast for many years. She had watched this particular tree stump floating around in the ocean for several years before it finally beached itself. I'm not sure the voyage has continued or whether the stump is still there almost 15 years later.

A view of a sunrise at Stone Harbor, New Jersey, created from photographs taken by Meghan Smith Silverstein during one of her visits to this beautiful island on New Jersey’s Coast. One can easily understand why they refer to it as their ‘Happy Place’. Included in the painting are some of the island’s birds - a pair of willets, a semipalmated plover, a grey plover, several sandpipers and of course, some sea gulls. Stone Harbor is a small town located on a seven mile long island with the Intercoastal Waterway to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east.

This painting was created from photos and memories of a beautiful sunset seen while heading directly west toward Sydney, Australia, from New Zealand on the Tasman Sea. While most people were standing at the railing on the bow of the ship, one couple decided to have the ‘best seat’ for viewing the sunset from a place on the next deck up and back a bit from the crowd below.

This is a painting based on photos taken by a fisherman, Frank Nugent, while fishing on the Ten Bears fishing boat based in Kodiak, Alaska. This view is as seen from a small, sheltered bay where the they dropped anchor for the night. This bay is located on the north side of Afognak Island, which is about 3.5 mile off Kodiak Island.

This painting was created from photos taken as I walked the Alameda Creek Trail between Willian Cann Neighborhood Park and Dry Creek. This was in late January of 2021, right after the only large winter rain of the season. There was a break in the clouds and the sun broke out and left a brilliant streak of light on the rushing waters.

This is a commissioned painting of the fishing boat, “Ten Bears”, which is owned by Eric Stirrup and based in Kodiak, Alaska. Captain Eric and Sally Magnuson provide special ‘journeys’ for those who want to fish, view wildlife, kayak adventures, hunt Sitka Black-tail deer and much more during different seasons in and around Kodiak Island. This is a view of early morning in Morro Bay, California, as the rising sun warms up the ‘Rock’ and the boats anchored in the bay. Only two men in one small boat broke the still water as it headed out to the ocean for a day’s fishing.

This painting was created from photographs taken of an old, white bark pine and some radiant, colorful flowers growing out of the rocks along the Rim Drive at Crater Lake, Oregon. The contrast between the old (probably dead) tree and the new life growing right up under it was striking – especially when seen against the background of one of the most beautiful, blue lakes in the world.

visually impaired Kayakers in the water near Sausalito, Ca. The year was in 2024 and she took this amazing photo of a luge, brown Pelican perched on a pile as if he was in charge of the entire boat activity in the harbor.
