This painting was created from photos taken by China Weinberger on a visit to La Jolla, California in January of 2023. This outstanding photo captures the large, graceful Brown Pelican flying over a few sea lions on the rocks next to the Pacific Ocean. The view of the calmness of the Pelican and the lounging Sea Lions on the rocks below clearly captures the beauty of the various aspects of life and water in this part of the California coast.
A view of a large Llama along the Inca Trail near Dead Woman’s Pass at about 13,580 ft. elevation. This was on a 2024, 26-mile-long Trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu in Peru. There were several other Llamas in the same area of the trail, but this one was the only one busy eating leaves from the small trees and bushes. This particular view seemed to have the Llama backlit as the light was surrounding him as he stretched up to eat the leaves. Both Doris, my traveling companion, and I took the same photo because the effect of the light around this white Llama really made him stand out from the other llamas who were just lounging about being relaxed and lazy.

A painting based on several visits to see the Sand Hill Cranes at their roosting area at the Consumes River Preserve, just South of Sacramento, Ca. This is often called a ‘Fly-in’ when the Cranes fly in as the sun sets from the surrounding fields where they have been feeding and gather in the safety of the waters at the preserves.

This is a view of a large llama resting along the Inca Trail near Dead Woman’s Pass at about 13,580 ft. elevation on a 26-mile-long Trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu in Peru. The source photo was taken by Bettencourt, who was my only companion on this trek other than a guide. The ditch is representative of the hundreds of similar ditches created by the ancient Peruvians who were known to be brilliant at using water to their advantage for irrigation, drainage or use in their special ceremonial areas and temples. Many of these ancient cultures are referred to as ’Hydraulic’ culture due to their expert utilization of water. photos and memories of a typical scene of a rabbit foraging for food in the snow.

A painting of two types of windmills—the very old and the very new. The old is a popular type of windmill often used to pump water on many farms across the country. The new type of windmill is now also often seen on farms—generating electricity instead of water. The origins of this painting go back to when I was a small boy playing and climbing on the older type of windmill. The AeroMotor Company of Chicago, Illinois, apparently was a manufacturer of a lot of this type of windmill - still some seen on farms today.

This is a view of a caribou that had been grazing in the marshes directly behind the Artic Caribou Inn, Dead Horse, Alaska – which is located at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. This particular caribou, which obviously missed the main migration south, finished grazing, slowly walked by, took a look at me and then ambled off. The velvet he was shedding revealed some broken antlers – like he had a long, rough summer. However, he otherwise seemed to be in good health.

One of my closest approaches to surrealism-where the sky isn't blue and the grass isn't green. A sub-tile to this painting is 'To Follow the Sun' - or to follow ones passions in life which are often a blend of life's highs and lows and the real and imagined as depicted by the sky and the earth, the land and sea.

This little owl appeared to be the meanest owl in the San Diego Zoo. He flew off the ground, chased all the other owls off the perch, then sat and glared at everything and everyone!

This painting was created from the concept and vision of Matthew Bradley as a tribute to an everlasting love between Dawn Moffitt and her Mother, Genevieve McMullen, who had recently passed on. By using animals to show a love in their life, an Elephant (Mrs. McMullen) and a Butterfly (Ms. Moffitt), represents the deep eternal love that exists between Mother and Daughter. With the Elephant holding the Butterfly on the tip of its trunk, pointing up towards the sky, symbolizing the heavens watching over the earth through our daily journey of life.

An evening sun highlighting two different types of birds - a pair of doves and a pair of Bird-of-Paridise flowers. The painting was created from photos taken of the doves, plum tree and fence in our back yard - a scene that happens almost every evening. The flowers were cut from the plants in the front yard and placed in the sun behind the doves and fence.

The owner of this very special and energetic Shih Tsu named Rico wanted him to be portrayed in a ’Comical and Whimsical’ setting. Therefore Rico is shown in the clouds on a surfboard with his own Blue Ribbon hanging from his foot with butterflies, a hummingbird and a rainbow in the background. Hopefully the vines coming up from the earth will help keep Rico grounded if needed!

‘Grace’ is the name of a Barn Owl living at the Cotswold Falconry, Morton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, in Western England. The beautiful feathers on her back are like fine lace with white and light brown colors interspersed with patterns of white and black spotted feathers. This painting was created from photos taken as it was held by my wife on a visit to the Falconry in June, 2016.

This painting was created from photos taken by Doris Bettencourt, while working with ETC (Environmental Traveling Companions) as a guide while assisting
visually impaired Kayakers in the water near Sausalito, Ca. The year was in 2024 and she took this amazing photo of a luge, brown Pelican perched on a pile as if he was in charge of the entire boat activity in the harbor.
