This is a painting I created from a photograph of a young lady on the pier in Amalfi, Italy, on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the spring of 2015. A few minutes earlier she had taken off her pink shoes and was standing on the steps that descended into the water. She then came out of the water, sat down on a large bollard, put her shoes on and quietly looked back down into the water.
